HAMILTON HIGH WEST BAND PARENTS CLUB
GENERAL BOARD MEETING MINUTES
JANUARY 7, 2008

 

President Joanne Devine called the meeting to order at 7:03PM.

INTRODUCTION OF OFFICERS

President Joanne Devine read off the roll call of officers of the Hamilton High West Band Parents Club. Absent were 1st Vice-President, in charge of Memberships, Susanne Worthington, Corresponding Secretary, Joyce Gallo, and Sergeant-at-arms, Lou Crammer.

 

MINUTES

Frank Czepiga, Recording Secretary, provided copies of the meeting minutes from the December 3, 2007 meeting for review and comment. After a brief period for review, the minutes were voted to be accepted as presented.

 

CORRESPONDENCE

Joanne Devine reported that Irma Takacs father had passed away and she will instruct Joyce Gallo to send a sympathy card to the family.

 

COMMITTEE REPORTS

MEMBERSHIPS: In lieu of the 1st Vice President, Frank Czepiga, Recording Secretary, reported that there were no new memberships received during the month of December 2007. Barbara Venanzi provided a spreadsheet for Susanne to reconcile with her information of paid memberships. The membership drive closed out at the end of December 2007.

FUNDRAISING: 2nd Vice President in charge of Fundraising, Linda Giaquinto reported that the Joe Corbi Pizza fundraiser will end on Friday, January 11, 2008. Pickup and distribution is scheduled for Tuesday, January 22, 2008, beginning at 5PM. Volunteers will be needed to help unload, break down and distribute the orders. ROSA's RESTAURANT: Rosa 's will donate a portion of their receipts to HHWBPC on the last Monday of each month. Linda Giaquinto reported that Rosa 's again donated $200 back to the HHWBPC from December. The next date for this fundraiser is January 29, 2008. Danielle Ingeri has spoken to Rosa and we have moved this “fundraiser” to the LAST TUESDAY of the month instead of the last MONDAY beginning with JANUARY 2008. Please support this “EASY” fundraiser.

SCOTTO's RESTAURANT: Scotto's will donate 20% of all receipts to HHWBPC on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. Barbara Venanzi reported that Scotto's donated $100 back to the HHWBPC from December. The next date for this fundraiser is January 9, 2008. Please support this “EASY” fundraiser.

POINSETTIA FUNDRAISER: Barbara Venanzi, co-chair along with her husband, Dave, reported that the HHWBPC sold 172 poinsettia's for this fundraiser. Dave Venanzi requested that we send a “Thank You” note to Voorhees Nurseries. “Thank You” to all volunteers that participated in unloading, breaking down and distributing the orders.

SUPER 50/50 TICKETS: Joanne Devine reported that she went to the township regarding licensing for the Super 50/50 ticket fundraiser and found out that all the dates for this fundraiser were put in wrong. She will file an amended form and it looks like the earliest we could legally schedule this fundraiser would be the Spring Concert in May 2008.

WINTER CONCERT: Joanne Devine reported that the Winter Concert would be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2008 at 7:30PM. We will not be able to do a Super 50/50 drawing, nor will we be selling any LOGO items. A brochure will be included in the Winter Concert program to take LOGO orders in case anyone is interested.

JAZZ FESTIVAL: Danielle Ingeri reported that the Jazz Festival is scheduled for Friday, February 15, 2008 beginning at 5PM. Volunteers are needed. Please see Danielle if you would like to volunteer.

Band Director, Brian Maher reported he is looking to have at least six (6) bands perform.

PASTA DINNER: Linda Giaquinto, chairperson, announced that the Pasta Dinner is scheduled for the Friday night of the annual School Play, on March 14, 2008. We will get help from the Drama Club under Ms. Amy Collins and split the proceeds 50/50 with the Drama Club. More information next month.

GIFT AUCTION: Joanne Devine reported that the Gift Auction fundraiser has been moved from April 12, 2008 to May 3, 2008 because it was determined that Grice is having their Gift Auction on the same day. MaryAnn Herncane, chairperson, will need volunteers. If you can, please support this fundraiser and volunteer if you can.

END-OF-YEAR PICNIC: Danielle Ingeri, chairperson for this event reported that she will be going to the YMCA Sawmill complex on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 to finalize the date and time. More information at next month's meeting.


NEW BUSINESS

END-OF-YEAR AWARDS: Band Director, Brian Maher stated that he would have a date for the Awards night by the next meeting. It will be the same format as last year.

EXECUTIVE BOARD 2008-2009: Joanne Devine stated that “ALL” Executive Board positions of the HHWBPC are up for renewal for the 2008-2009 school year. A committee has been formed to nominate new people for these positions. Five (5) people are needed to be on this nominating committee and five (5) people have volunteered to be on this committee. These five people are: Guy DiDonato, Joann Grace, Danielle Ingeri, Dave Venanzi, and Kathy Ford.

 

BAND DIRECTOR'S REPORT

Band Director, Brian Maher distributed the latest band information to the group. Important agenda items were notated in his literature. Brian Maher also announced that the “DROWSY CHAPERONE” closed its doors on December 31, 2007. New front-runner is “CURTAINS”. Still awaiting word on hotel availability for “Game Show Mania”. Date for the trip is April 19, 2008. More information to follow next month.

Brian Maher also commented on the 2008-2009 HHSW Marching Band's theme selected for next year's marching season, “What a Rush”. There will be props and it will be a 3-part show. More information to follow.

 

OPEN DISCUSSION

The next HHWBPC General meeting is scheduled for Monday, February 4, 2008 beginning at 7:00PM in the Band Room.

 

President Joanne Devine adjourned the meeting at 7:35PM
