GENERAL BOARD MEETING MINUTES
NOVEMBER 5, 2007
President Joanne Devine called the meeting to order at 7:07PM.
INTRODUCTION OF OFFICERS
President Joanne Devine read off the roll call of officers of the Hamilton High West Band Parents Club.
MINUTES
Frank Czepiga, Recording Secretary, provided copies of the meeting minutes from the October 1, 2007 meeting for review and comment. After a brief period for review, the minutes were voted to be accepted as presented.
CORRESPONDENCE
Joanne Devine reported that the HHWBPC qualified for and received a $500 grant from the Citigroup Foundation. Danielle Ingeri’s husband, Rob, was instrumental in obtaining this grant on behalf of the club. Joanne requested that the club, through the Corresponding Secretary, Joyce Gallo, send out a “Thank You” to both Rob Ingeri and the Citigroup Foundation.
Joanne Devine also reported that the Wal-Mart in West Windsor donated the poster board and materials to make poster of the senior Band members that adorned the stands for Senior Day, on November 3, 2007.
COMMITTEE REPORTS
MEMBERSHIPS: 1ST Vice President in charge of Membership, Susanne Worthington was absent. No report.
FUNDRAISING: 2nd Vice President in charge of Fundraising, Linda Giaquinto reported that the cutoff date for the A&M pie fundraiser is Wednesday, November 7, 2007. Pies will be delivered to HHSW at approximately 4:00PM on Monday, November 19, 2007. Volunteers are needed to unload and breakdown orders.
PIT CREW: 3rd Vice President in charge of the Pit Crew, Steve Mundt reported that there could be a home game on November 10, 2007. Time to be determined. Be prepared.
LOGO ITEMS: Danielle Ingeri reported that all the full zip Sweatshirts have been SOLD OUT. They are on order along with more HOODIE sweatshirts. We are still good with our Umbrella sales (small and large). Help is needed this weekend if there is a home game.
ROSA’s RESTAURANT: Rosa’s will donate a portion of their receipts to HHWBPC on the last Monday of each month. Linda Giaquinto reported that Rosa’s donated $200 back to the HHWBPC from October. Next date for this fundraiser is November 26, 2007. Please support this “EASY” fundraiser. It was noted that the December date for this fundraiser has been moved from December 31, 2007 (New Year’s Eve) to December 17, 2007. Please make note of this scheduling change.
SCOTTO’s RESTAURANT: Scotto’s will donate 20% of all receipts to HHWBPC on the 2nd Tuesday of each month. Joyce Gallo reported that Scotto’s donated $70 back to the HHWBPC from October. Next date for this fundraiser is November 13, 2007. Please support this “EASY” fundraiser.
AD BOOK: Danielle Ingeri reported that the ad book looked very good, but it did not sell well at Cavalcade. We did not lose any money on the Ad book, but we did not make as much as we had anticipated. New ideas are needed for next year. Danielle reported that there is a teacher at West, Mary Kanoc, which could use the Ad Book as a project for her class next year, but she will need lead time to make it happen. Just a thought.
CAVALCADE: Diane Mandelko was absent. Barbara Venanzi, Treasurer reported that the HHWBPC realized a profit of $6,346.60 for Cavalcade, with ten (10) bands performing.
SENIOR/PARENT DAY: Joanne Devine and Danielle Ingeri reported that Senior Day, held on Saturday, November 3, 2007 was a success. The HHWBPC honored eighteen (18) senior members of the Band including Band Front at half time festivities during the HHSW/Nottingham football game. All seniors have received their pictures. Student posters will be given to the graduating seniors at the BAND AWARDS night in the springtime.
NEW BUSINESS
Joanne Devine reported that there is an 8th Grade orientation/tour scheduled for Wednesday, November 28, 2007, beginning at 7:00PM. The HHWBPC will staff a LOGO table in the cafeteria, for the evening. Volunteers are needed. Please
Frank Czepiga, chairman for the BREAKFAST for the BAND committee, provided volunteer signup sheets and items needed sheets for the Thanksgiving Day Breakfast for the Band. Breakfast will be served from approximately 8:00AM to 9:00AM. All volunteers report to the cafeteria side door at 7:00AM. The Thanksgiving Day game between Steinert and Hamilton High West is scheduled to begin at 10:30AM on November 22, 2007.
Dave Venanzi, co-chair along with his wife Barbara, reported that the Poinsettia Fundraiser will continue thru Monday, November 26, 2007. Orders will be ready for pickup on Friday, December 14, 2007. Students will earn $4 in their student’s accounts for each poinsettia that they sell. Please see the website for more information.
Joanne Devine reported that we (HHSW Marching Band and the HHWBPC) have been asked to participate in a fundraiser, along with the Cheerleaders and the HHSW Football Boosters Club, sponsored by the Chick-fil-A restaurant in the Hamilton Marketplace. It will be East vs West during the week of the Thanksgiving Day game. Winner gets $1000/split three ways. Loser gets $500/split three ways. Kickoff night is set for Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at 7:00PM. There will be media coverage at that time. Need HHSW Marching Band volunteers to be there, along with cheerleaders and some football players. Contest runs from November 17 thru November 24, 2007.
Joanne Devine reported that she is still looking for a Chairman to run the Gift Auction in the spring. If anyone is interested, please contact her or Linda Giaquinto as soon as possible.
Joanne Devine raised the idea of a Pasta Dinner as a possible fundraising opportunity. We could coordinate with the school play on that Friday. Need a Chairperson. Can we do it? More needs to be discussed for next month.
Joanne Devine asked if anyone has any NEW ideas for future fundraising events. Please think about it and contact her as soon as possible if you do.
BAND DIRECTOR’S REPORT
Band Director, Brian Maher distributed the latest band information to the group. Important agenda items were notated in his literature.
OPEN DISCUSSION
The next HHWBPC General meeting is scheduled for Monday, December 3, 2007 beginning at 7:00PM in the Band Room.
